PROJECT PROFILE
Project: Edgar County Courthouse
Location: Paris, IL
Crontractor: Kreiling Roofing Company
This project involved the refurbishment of Edgar
County Courthouse located in Paris, Illinois, a prominent
architectural structure of considerable historical
importance. The primary focus of the restoration project
was to maintain the architectural integrity of the building.
This required the use of premium materials such as red
slate and copper standing seam, along with copper flatlock
for the roofing. Additionally, custom copper gutters and
flashings were installed, along with custom copper finials for
the decorative elements. The careful choice of these materials
played a vital role in safeguarding the visual and historical
significance of the courthouse. The successful execution of
the project necessitated careful and thorough planning to
guarantee that all elements of the restoration were consistent
with the initial design and materials. The task necessitated
a profound comprehension of historical architecture and a
steadfast dedication to safeguarding the site’s legacy. The
team’s adeptness in workmanship was apparent through their
meticulous attention to detail and precise execution of the
restoration work, resulting in the courthouse being restored
to its previous state of grandeur.
The project highlighted the significance of comprehensive
pre-project planning, which established the groundwork for a
prosperous restoration. The process encompassed evaluating
the state of the current building, choosing appropriate
materials, and formulating a plan to carry out the rebuilding
while safeguarding the historical components. Efficient
communication with all relevant parties, such as the courthouse
representatives, the design team, and the construction crew,
played a crucial role in coordinating their endeavors and
establishing a unified strategy for the restoration project.
The project also underscored the capacity to effectively
respond to unanticipated obstacles, such as intense wind
occurrences that posed a risk to the restoration procedure.
The prompt response of the team to these issues and the
subsequent implementation of steps to limit their impact
played a pivotal role in maintaining
the project’s progress.
The project’s success
was a monument to
the staff’s expertise
and
commitment,
as they skillfully and
meticulously navigated
the intricacies of
repairing a historical
site. This ensured that
the Edgar County Courthouse was not only restored but also
equipped to withstand the test of time.
