WE’RE HERE FOR YOU
San Francisco—marking the first convention he had missed in
45 years. His passing represented the loss of one of roofing’s
most devoted advocates, but his legacy continues to inspire
generations of industry professionals.
In recognition of his extraordinary service and lifelong
dedication, MRCA established the James Q. McCawley Award
in 1969. Since then, the award has honored individuals whose
exceptional leadership, service, and commitment have made a
lasting impact on the roofing industry.
MRCA itself officially began in 1950 and has since grown into
a leading voice for roofing contractors throughout the Midwest
and beyond. The association continues to build on its rich
history while shaping the future of the industry, advocating
for contractors and representing their interests among
manufacturers, consultants, and regulatory agencies.
To preserve this remarkable legacy, MRCA created its Living
History—an interactive, continuously updated digital archive
that captures the people, milestones, and stories that have
defined the association and the roofing industry over the
decades.
