6 / FRAME BUILDER - VOL7 NO3 DIRECTOR'S MESSAGE A MESSAGE FROM MEGAN POPE NFBA EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR A s another busy building season begins to wind down, I hope it has been a successful one for all of our NFBA members - our post-frame contractors, as well as the manufacturers, suppliers and service providers who support them. From everything we are seeing throughout the association, there continues to be a great deal of energy and opportunity in the post-frame industry. One indication of that growing interest was the response NFBA received at the NAHB International Builders’ Show last year. We weren’t quite sure what to expect during our first year exhibiting, but the interest in post-frame construction was impressive and included several inquiries from international visitors. We are excited to return to IBS February 2–4, 2027, to continue introducing builders and construction professionals to what post-frame has to offer. Post-frame construction is gaining ground in areas of the United States where it has not traditionally been as common, and we are also seeing increasing interest overseas. The speed and efficiency of construction, availability of materials and versatility of the building system all make post-frame an attractive option. And when properly engineered, its strength and resilience can be tremendous. Good engineering is truly the key to unlocking the full potential of post-frame construction, and educating the greater construction community about that potential is an important part of NFBA’s mission. That momentum is also evident at the state and regional level. The Heartland Chapter held its Annual Golf Outing in early September, while the Wisconsin Frame Building Association held its Annual Golf Outing in August and is now preparing for its Annual Conference at Blue Harbor Resort and Conference Center in Sheboygan, January 26–27, 2027. There is also something new happening in the Great Lakes region. The newly formed Great Lakes Frame Building Association (GLFBA), currently serving Indiana, Illinois and Michigan, will hold its premier event November 4 at Swan Lake Resort and Conference Center in Plymouth, Indiana, in partnership with the Buckeye Frame Building Association. The day will include industry speakers, a tour of Plyco’s nearby manufacturing facility and a networking dinner. Everyone is welcome, whether or not you are currently a member of BFBA or GLFBA. BFBA will then serve as our Host Chapter for the 2027 NFBA Conference & Expo in February. As part of its host activities, BFBA is planning a special Chapter Area on the Expo floor where members of all NFBA Chapters and state and regional post-frame associations can gather, connect and learn more about these organizations. Strong local and regional organizations create more opportunities for our industry to connect throughout the year. We are also excited to introduce the new NFBA Woman of the Year Award, sponsored by NFBA’s Women in Post Frame group. Nominations are now open, and I encourage you to think about the women you know who have helped shape the direction, standards or visibility of our industry. Nominations can be submitted to NFBA headquarters or completed online. Please take a few minutes to recognize someone whose contributions deserve to be celebrated. Important technical and educational work continues as well. NFBA is hard at work on the third edition of the Post-Frame Building Design Manual, which will incorporate updates corresponding with current building codes, along with entirely new chapters and design examples. It is a significant undertaking that will provide another valuable resource for our industry. NFBA has also developed a new educational seminar series specifically for building code officials that provides continuing education credits. This program will be featured at the 2027 NFBA Conference & Expo alongside our three established education tracks: Business Management, Sales & Marketing, and Technical & Safety. Educating code officials about post-frame construction is another important step toward expanding understanding and acceptance of our building system. THE OFFICIAL NFBA MAGAZINE
