b"THE OFFICIAL NFBA MAGAZINEA MESSAGE FROMROBYN OMMENPRESIDENT, NFBA BOARD OF DIRECTORSS ince you are reading this, I would like to congratulate you on making time to stay informed by reading the National Frame Builder Magazine. I knowPRESIDENT'S MESSAGEhow busy your days have become. Construction season is coming into its full glory again as spring is quickly fading and we move on into summer. The weather has a lot to say about this time of year and you can tell it wants to be heard. We have seen a lot of extreme weather in the past few years and how it can affect our industry. Early outbreaks of storms and tornados are something to be aware of for more and more areas of the country. Many times, you luck out on direct storm damage, but then you have the flooding to deal with. This is true for our builders but also for those who work hard to supply the builders with what they need. Remember to prepare for these types of unexpected events as best as you can. Be conscious about your shop, material storage, jobsites, and employees, and try to communicate with your industry partners on possible emergency plan options. Another important thing to consider during these seasons is safety. Talk to employees about how to be safe on the jobsite as summer high temperatures expose workers to the potential for heatstroke, dehydration, and fatigue. Once someone suffers from any kind of heat-related illness, they are often prone to experience it again with even less intense exposure. Heat illness can also lead to accidents, injuries, and even fatalities. Remember, if you are a NFBA Member, you can take advantage of your Legal Services Plan. Use your one free call a month to our Legal Counsel, Gary Auman, to seek advice on how to improve your Companys safety program and reduce these types of incidents. I also wanted to take this opportunity to get the word out that we are starting a Women in Post-Frame group. Some of our current NFBA Members have gathered for initial planning on the direction and activities for this new initiative. The goal of this group is to provide networking opportunities for all women who are in the Post-frame Industry. Sharing common challenges and experiences can be very empowering and educational for those who participate. Every woman who is employed by a NFBA Member Company is welcome to participate. We are working to build a unique event at the upcoming 2024 NFBA Expo in Des Moines. If you or anyone from your company would like to find out more about getting involved, women or men, please reach out. Sincerely,6 / FRAME BUILDER - MAY2023"
